*Taps on the table*
The point is, if people were afraid of the death penalty, there would have been a much lower crime rate. However, there isn't. Why? Because some of them were let off the hook and thought that they could get away with it all the time. That answers your question of them being given a second chance. they do not treasure it and instead take advantage of it.

I think not. Wesley I'm gonna bring this debate to a new level. How?
By supporting Tintin. And its my turn.
Ok fine there will be a much smaller crime rate. That's cos everyone will be caught and hanged. Let me give you an example. Draco was an Athenian king in ancient greece. In his law book, almost all crimes were punishable by death. If you steal an apple the thief was slaughtered, People found guilty of idleness were excecuted (lol now do you dare daydream during chapel?)
He said: "Yes, it's unfair. Little and big crimes get the same punishment. If only I could think of a punishment worse than death for the serious ones." Someone also reported that the law book was written in blood.
So if we do that in singapore, Our population tomorrow would be >2million and the wages for a hangman would be higher that that of the prime minister. Why? Because so many people in singapore flout the law without knowing it... If you did not wear your seat belt before the car gets to 1km/h... Then drive this way to the gallows please.
How would you like that. Maybe tomorrow you will be the only person left in singapore if that was punishable by death. Let of the hook? Just given a lighter punishment. Mas Selamat was given a chance cos as galvin said there is still juice from his head to be squeezed out. Well now he deserves to die. But please dont redivert to his plight now. I just wanted to show you what your justice has in store for us.

That makes no sense biscuit monster. you said IF that happened in singapore. which means it doesnt. which means your point is invalid. Also, what you're talking about is ancient greece. what we're talking about is the modern world where there are big and small crimes and different punishments.

Yes, but what i was getting at was that IF our community hanged anyone who did something wrong, which was what westlw said. He said that people who have been let of the HOOK. i.e. the noose.

I did not say that every single petty crime is punishable by death, but instead said that horrible crimes such as rape and murder should have a death sentence. Seriously. If you are a criminal wanting to murder somebidy, would you dare to if you know that there was a death sentence?

So all murderers and rapists should be killed? Yeah i shoot you because I dont like your face ya sure. I shoot you because I was cleaning my rifle barrel and accidentally pressed the trigger. Thats manslaughter. Its not your fault. It was carelessness. So you should kill every person who does the wrong thing at just the wrong time?

Hey timothy. you said for yourself that that was manslaughter. Not murder. So you CANT be a murderer that way... Different charges. Its in between 10yrs-life imprisonment for manslaughter btw. Not death.

Yes I said it was manslaughter but it still is taking a life. Wesley says that anyone who kills deserves to exhange his life of the dead guy's
