Referring 2 webby's post:
Electric Chair may not be that painless. Sometimes you just fry but dont die yet. And that sux.
And sleepy needle? Thats fatal injection used in some US states. They inject fatal chemicals into your body to kill you. dunno about the pain though. But i agree that isolation is a far worse punishment than death but staring your impending doom hurts. And it hurts bad. Thats what makes the death penalty so powerful a deterrent

*Laughs* ;D well I guess it really depends on whether the criminal has 'nerves of steel'. Although its true that most people will break down in front of the guillotine, we have to take note that fear does not work on all criminals.

Fear, is what makes the death penalty an powerful deterrent. Fear is what keeps ,many of us from breaking the law, from doing bad stuff. Thus,The death penalty is a good deterrent because of people's fear of death.

Echoing after some person in this debate,( not too sure who) that the death penalty acts as a better DETTERENT than life imprisonment. However, it can be widely debated over which is a better PUNISHMENT. Yup, agree with Wesltw that is why it is a good deterent. Another point. The death penalty is JUSTICE(not a new point but also not touched much yet). It is also CLOSURE for the victim's family.

Terrorists will turn over a new leaf if given a chance. I may have done something in a folly and then regret it. Result: I get killed when I repent? Ever heard of Tony Davies stuff ppt. This applies

He got caught, not put to death, and escaped!!!

How sure are you? If he has repented then surely he would turn himself over? But No. Where is he? You don't know for sure.

If he has not repented, he would have crashed into Changi Airport by now or murdered a PAP guy
