A few weeks ago, my desktop keyboard did not respond and when checked out in the control panel, it displayed an Error code. More precisely, error code 19:Windows cannot start this hardware device because its configuration information (in the registry) is incomplete or damaged. To fix this problem you can first try running a Troubleshooting Wizard. If that does not work, you should uninstall and then reinstall the hardware device. (Code 19)
This means that your registry Data is damaged and that this causes the hardware device affected to not function properly or not at all.
The Windows registry is a hidden feature of windows, where the information key to windows operations are stored, so its dangerous to lay hands on(Its just as suicidal as clicking the C drive then deleting the whole WINDOWS folder). How to fix the registry, previously I did not know. The problem was later solved when my brother reinstalled the keyboard and driver but I was previously afraid to do this as I was afraid that the wireless keyboard would no longer be detected. I had previously fixed my monitor resolution problem this way.
Editing the windows registry is no easy task. There are certain softwares like Registry Mechanic which make your life easier but not a walk in the park. These softwares are known as Registry Cleaners and I don't even dare touch them.
But if you know your stuff the registry can do wonders for you. It can be altered to optimise your system performance and even fix the most complex hardware problems.
