So by LKY's (Lee Kuan Yew not Loh Guang You) words, S'poreans had to study two languages and it was compulsory. People were forced to study languages which they did not even choose to study bcos their parents obviously chose their ancestor's tongue.
Do you think it was a good thing for such a policy to be put in place? Why is it good? Why can't students choose for themselves at a later age?
If I had a choice I would not even take Chinese much less HCL. Hello in HCL- E=MC*100/4 There we go another debate

Fine, Chinese is integral, especially with China on the rise. I know this may sound cliche, but really, China has a totally powerful and strong economy, without which we will stand to lose. Hope for Chinese to learn English and work with you? There are always other peopl willing to learn Chinese and work with them. Its your lost if u dun.

Not cliche. Too much of 1984 material in you. Big Brother is... Ok nvm dun wanna go there. But wtheck why must we study chinese? Why cant we choose wad 2nd language we wanna take? If we were given a choice lets see how many people take chineses

Thats the problem. The government knows nobody will take Chi thats why they force ppl to take as it is v important.

Then the malays also go take lor. And who says that no one will take Chinese? I only said how many people. 75% of the current population. NSK dont speak english i tell you they are worse than Zhihao when he 1st came
