I feel that HSM2 was not as good as HSM1. Firstly, the storyline was too typical. A simple 'Girl snatches boy, pair breaks up' ind of story. There was not enough originality in this sequel. The original movie was not one that someone would expect befor watching it.
Secondly, the songs were slightly disappointing. The listening quality, as compared to the original movie, was lower and tunes were harder to remember. The 'shape and sound' of the classic 'HSM' style of music was removed, and replaced with more modern 'Hip-Hop' or 'Love' style of songs. This destroyed the one thing that made HSM good in the first place.
There were only a few better things to mention about HSM2. Troy (played by Zac Efron) finally had his REAL voice in the songs. Even though the original voice of Troy sounded better, it was still good to get a more 'real' feel in the songs featuring Troy's voice.
I also expect that it would be hard for a sequel to live up to the standards of a magnificent prequel.

PS This is my own review. Do not edit or insult the movie, as this will be completely offtopic.

Before that his voice was blended with the singer of Rolling Stones, aint that right ? Oh well. Liked Zac's songs a little more this time. I feel that breaking free was a better song, but this season had better songs IN GENERAL. i didn't like "I don't dance" and "Getcha head in the game" =.="

Ok, fine. Well, many people agree that HSM2 was better than the original, and there are many different opinions. I think the the songs are good (with a few exceptions), but the storyline needed a lot of work. Songs Rating (mine)1. What Time is it Preppy little song. Good for an opening to this form of teenage movie. Rating: 8/10 2. Fabulous Far too preppy. As mentioned in an interview, Lucas Grabeel (Ryan Evans) stated that this was supposed to be mainly a visual impact, not a pop song by itself. He was right. It was a good visual impact, but the lyrics needed work. Rating: 6/10 3. Work this out Good song. Very nice role play. One of the few 'go along with movie' songs that might be hits. Ok, so the dancing was kinda weird, but still... Rating: 8/10 4. You are the Music in me Very nice song. But when I saw them flirting, I was like... . Appropriate lyrics. Good melody. Rating: 7/10 5. I don't dance Very well done! I have never seen a mixture of dance, music and sports before this one. Very creative. The only thing I didn't like was that the scenes kept switching. A little too much. Rating: 8/10 6. You are the Music in me (Sharpey version) This song was simply a hyped-up version of the previous, slower song. This was probably one of the main factors that made the movie rise from a G rating to a PG. Whats up with the pole dancing?! The song was too fast for my style. Rating: 6/10 7. Gotta Go my own way. Nice...a sad song in HSM? Thats a first... ;D Rating: 7/10 8. Bet on it Great Song! I just love the lyrics, and the melody is very catchy. Its only drawback is that the dance moves were kinda lame. Rating:8/10 9. Everyday My favourite song of this entire movie...I liked the part when Zac first saw Gab., and the wind was like...blowing in his hair. Very dramatic moment, very touching. The best part was when all the kids joined up on stage. Rating: 9/10 10. All for one Good song, but alas...We're all in this together beats this one hands down. Rating: 7/10 11. Humuhumunukunukua' Pua' a (bonus track only in soundtrack) Ahahahahahaha...funny little song. This was originally meant to be in the movie, but the director removed it for some reason... Rating: 6(7, actually)/10 webmaster

theres another sad song in hsm, right? When there was me and you. or sth
the humunukuwhatever-y 'pua' was supposedly the "ryan" and "sharpey" song before she for troy as a "replacement". There are several scenes where they mention it. but it was taken outta the original movie for unknown reasons ~

Apparantly theres one video on utube that shows a short scene from Humuhumunukunukua' Pua' A. Its kinda weird...Troy was not singing, he was just sitting on a chair and looking downright confused, while Ryan and Sharpey are doing their crazy dance about a girl named Tiki who wants to talk to some volcano spirit in order to convince the spirit to turn her fish boyfriend into a man again. Methinks Troy was having a dream, but maybe not. Maybe the lyrics here might help [Ryan] A long time ago in a land far away lived the pineapple princess, Tiki She was sweet as a peach, in a pineapple way, But so sad she hardly speaky
Still, If you want to listen well, You’ll hear her secret wish.
[Danielle] (Aloha, everybody, my name is Tiki!)
I long to free a truly remarkable fish, My sweet prince.
Humuhumunukunukua’Pua’A, Makihiki malahini-who Humuhumunukunukua’Pua’A, Ooh. Hawana wakawakawakaniki pu pu pu
(Ryan, the fog!)
[Ryan] She dreams of a boy, who is under a spell That has left him all wet and scaly.
[Danielle and Ryan] I sing from my heart of the power of love, Just a girl with a ukulele.
[Danielle] Come to me, my sweet one, and be still I’ll grasp your tail and stroke each tender grill My sweet prince.
Humuhumunukunukua’Pua’A, Makihiki malahini-who Humuhumunukunukua’Pua’A, Ooh. Hawana wakawakawakaniki pu pu pu
[Ryan, Danielle, and the Sharpettes] The clouds turned grey, and the big sky cried, And the ocean had a fit.
[Danielle] (Ryan, where is my ocean!?)
[Ryan, Danielle, and the Sharpettes] Then the wind went whoosh, and thunder cracked, And mighty mount Fufu spit.
[Danielle] Mighty Mount Fufu spit!
[Danielle and Ryan] T-T-T-Tiki T-Tiki Wanna speaky, speaky, speaky with the mighty spirit Fufu T-T-T-Tiki T-Tiki Wanna speaky, speaky, speaky So words I will not mince.
[Danielle] Wanna speaky, speaky, speaky So words I will not mince. Please make a man of my fresh fish prince
(Vocal sound effects and gurgling)
[Ryan] I’m Prince Humuhumunukunukua’Pua’A Amakahiki malahini who
[Danielle] (With me!) Humuhumunukunukua’Pua’A, Ooh Hawana wakawakawakaniki pu pu pu Everybody!
[All] Humuhumunukunukua’Pua’A, Makihiki malahini-who Humuhumunukunukua’Pua’A, Ooh. Hawana wakawakawakaniki pu pu pu Wakawakawakaniki pu pu pu Wakawakawakaniki pu…pu… pu! Ahh….I have no idea who is Danielle...just replace her with Sharpey... webmaster
