1.1 Introduction
"He's Back, And He's As Fat And As Ugly As Ever" - Bengal_Tigger
"Showing the power of Death in brute force, Pudge roams the battlefield searching for flesh to assimilate to his own gruesome body. Over the years, his skin has toughened to resist magic, while developing a stench potent enough to kill the bravest of heroes. With his hook he can drag enemies to their demise by his great maw in a matter of seconds. The Butcher is a monstrosity feared by enemies and allies alike. "

Mea(t) HOOK!
Launches a bloody hook at a unit or location. The hook will snag the first target it encounters, dealing damage then dragging the victim back to the Butcher.
Level 1 - 400 range, 100 damage.
Level 2 - 600 range, 200 damage.
Level 3 - 800 range, 300 damage.
Level 4 - 1000 range, 400 damage.
CD is 14 Seconds at All Levels
Manacost is 140 at All Levels
The main skill and fun of playing pudge! This guide will stress ALOT on hooks. Hooks are one of the most useful skill, being one of the top few damaging non-ulti spells, seconded by Illuminate of KoTL and matching Elune's Arrow of PotM. Another useful thing is that it drags the victim right NEXT to you, giving you enough rot him or dismember him. Also useful to drag an enemy to ganks or save a teammate in trouble. Note : Does not do any damage to allies.
(R)ot
Pudge releases the disease and filth inside of him, dealing intense damage and slowing surrounding enemies while hurting Pudge as well.
Level 1 - 25 damage/second.
Level 2 - 50 damage/second.
Level 3 - 75 damage/second.
Level 4 - 100 damage/second.
The skill is fairly useful. Makes sure noone can escape you. With your hook and rot, you are one of the hardest to escape from. The major damage from rot doesn't make it any easier either. 100 Damage per second is no joke. the drawback is that it damages you in turn, so you need to balance when or when not to rot. This skill can be used to rot yourself to death. It is a tactic used to deny enemies EXP and GOLD and maintains your streak. And, if you pumped flesh heap, you will get the strength bonus. Hey hey, you DID kill a hero, even if it WAS yourself! (Techies should have a brain heap or something)
Flesh HEAP - Passive
Pudge is made of innumerable rotting corpses, giving him extra protection against spells as well as the chance to add more to his bulk.
Level 1 - 4% magic reduction, slight Str bonus per kill.
Level 2 - 8% magic reduction, moderate Str bonus per kill.
Level 3 - 12% magic reduction, large Str bonus per kill.
Level 4 - 16% magic reduction, heavy Str bonus per kill
The icing on the cake which transforms you from an early game assasin to a late game tank! Reduces magic damage and gives strength bonuses! So many things in a single skill. And, it's passive!
(D)ismember
Chows down on a target, causing excruciating pain.
Lasts 3 seconds at all levels.
Level 1 - 75 damage/second.
Level 2 - 125 damage/second.
Level 3 - 175 damage/second.
Level 1: 100 mana
Level 2: 130 mana
Level 3: 170 mana
CD : 30S at All levels
Contrary to beliefs, this skill's damage totally SUCKS... What does the MAJOR damage is your rot and teammates bashing on them for the entire duration. Early game, kills will be scored while dismembering with an ally nearby or tower. Later, its used for your DPSers to get an accurate shot. This skill has a minor casting time, during which an enemy can run out of the range. Be sure that this doesnt happen by rotting and chasing till you are sure you are in range. it is CHANNELING, which makes it even worse. Once stunned or silenced, Dismember is CANCELLED. This means that against silencer, you CAN NOT rot AFTER clicking dismember. It will cancel the whole process.
1.2>Why Should I Use Pudge?
I will keep this rather simple. Pudge is a good and fun hero to use, mainly because of hooks. Much thinking is required for an accurate hook coupled with quick reflexes for the combo. It is a challenge to yourself and the true power of PUDGE. His imba strength gain and flesh heap makes him an awesome tank and hard to bring down.
1.3>Pro's & Con's
[glow=blue,2,300][shadow=green,left,300]Pro's[/shadow][/glow]
-One of the highest Str Gains in the game
-Skills synergize well
-Insane HP gain
-Good lane partner in almost every instance
-One of the longest range spells in the game
-Meat hook DRAGS the target TO YOU
-Has a cool pirate hook-arm
-Good assasin with max-range hook
-Is an awesome rugby player
-Blessed with the gift of suicide ability
[glow=brown,2,300][shadow=red,left,300]Con's[/shadow][/glow]
-Relatively low mana pool
-0 escape mechanisms besides lothars (which noone will use) or town portal (which you wont have mana to support too often)
-Unable to use blink dagger
-Aiming of hooks require skill
-One of the weakest ultimates in the game
-Requires to be in melee range at almost all times besides hooking
-Susceptible to ganks as people will want to take you out FIRST
1.4>Personal Thoughts
Who cares about the low mana pool and whatsoever? with this guide, most of your problems are mainly taken care of! Hook synergises with alot of skills as it forces the enemy to move to an area which he doesnt want to step into (rupture or a minefield) causing him to be at an disadvantage as you know the terrain around you better. Knowing your surroundings is already winning half the battle - Suntzi's art of war

Explanation
Meathook is taken at level one for an early save or early point blanc should you need ot
At levels 2 and 3, rot is taken. Level 3 rot is taken over meat hook as the short range will not make much difference, but a rot will be more useful for ur teammate to catch up and nuke and with extra damage should the enemy attempt an early chiong
Hook is taken at levels 4 and 5 so you can increase the range and damage quickly as it SHOULD be maxed by level 7 for assasinating. A level 3 hook is also enough to hook most unwary heroes and does the same damage as a max level nuke with most heroes. (you may also rot chase and kill if your teammate is aware of your plan)
Dismember is taken at level 6 for the disable and every subsequent level for the slight damage bonus.
At level 7, hook is maxed and rot is quickly maxed too for obvious reasons.
At level 10, Flesh heap is subbed out for Stats as + 2 int and + 2 str (pudge doesnt really rely on agil) is more important at this point than a SMALL str bonus.
Level 11 Dismember again for obvious reasons
Level 12 - 15 Flesh heap to increase tanking ability.
Level 16 Dismember to dish out a slightly bigger punch
The rest are stats.
This is the basic pudge build though it may be altered abit, EG : Sub out level 7 and 8 for rot and leave maxing hook later if you really are SO confident... you might want to add *hook, rot, hook rot, hook dismem, hook , rot, rot* whatever suits you best. It really depends more on your opponent and teammate. If you get juggernaught as an opponent, rot shouldnt be pumped over hook as his blade fury negates spells. If you get laned against omniknight, i advise an immediate lane switch. Degen aura makes your rot slow useless. His heals and repel also makes him a tough one to kill with pudge. Get someone who can own him flat and chase efficently, EG : Gorgon with purge or WW heroes
I've personally altered it abit to suit nuke-counters

Pretty much same except that hook is taken whenever you can to increase the range at which you can hook the nukers (which usually have low hp being int heroes) to your tower OR to save allies caught in chain nukes.
Fleshheap is taken at levels 10-13 as it gives spell reduction and you can farm up your strength quicker, even though only by abit
Stats is taken at level 14 for the extra mana and str bonus
Dismember is only taken at 15 and 16 as the minor damage wont really deal much when nuke spammers will probably die from your rot + lv 1 dismember + ganks anyway.
3.1>Recommended Item Build
3.2>Anti-Nuke Item Build
3.3>Anti-tank Item Build
3.1 Recommended Item Build
1>Bottle
2>Boots Of Speed (Later Upgraded To Travels)
3>Bracers x 2
4>Heart Of Tarasque x ?
5>(Optional) Assault Cuirass
6>(Optional) Observer / Sentry wards
Bottle is for the much needed instant-mana
Boots of speed, duhish. No speed = No Catch = No kill.
Bracers x 2 for the cheap but efficent health gain as well as the max mana
Heart of tarasque to finish the whole thing with imba health for good rotting and imba hp.
OPTIONAL : Assault cuirass turns you into a REAL tank. + 20 armor is ALOT for his puny current armor, coupled with already high hp, he is hard to bring down. A -5 armor aura isnt sth to laugh at either. His attack speed boost is wasted though, thats why this is OPTIONAL...
OPTIONAL : Wards spice up the whole map. They reveal pretty much everything and are good counters to junglers earlier. They also greatly reduce the need for blind hooks. I strongly advice you to buy tonnes of SENTRY wards against stealthers like riki or bounty hunter, though you may not need it if you are experienced and know how to blind-rot or blindhook efficently.
2.2 Anti-nukes!
What can i say, everyone hates nukes. If using the Anti-nuke build isnt your STYLE or you find it not useful ENOUGH, use this build
1> Bottle
2> Boots Of Speed (Later Upgraded to travel)
3> Bracer x1
4> Hood Of Defiance
5> Heart Of Tarasque
Get spell resistance over a second bracer. A single bracer alone only provides 6 str, which wont prove to be as vital as a large spell resistance which adds to your own.
Bottle and Boots are gotten for the same reason and Tarasque helps you tank. Most nukers do not have invisiblity , thus reducing needs for sentries.
2.3 Anti-Tanks!
NOW NOW! Who doesnt hate the stupid king Leoric who chiongs in gungho, dies and runs out alive while killing some of your team? Or maybe that pesky horse who goes in, stomps, poops on you and runs away ? Your team has no tank, what are you going to do?! BECOME ONE! DUH! The strategy to counter tanks is to OUT-tank them. Your rot and normal whacks should be enough to kill them quicker unless they have sth like critical, stun or vamp aura. If they do, just outtank them and wait till you get a chance where you can dismemb so your whole team can pummel him flat.
1>Bottle
2>Bracer
3>Boots Of Speed (Later upgraded to travels)
4>Vitality Boosters(Later upgraded to hearts)
5>Reavers(Later upgraded to hearts)
Get the ingredients seperately and independently based on how well you are farming. Get vita whenever you can and another vita or bracer if you arent doign so well. If you can, get a reaver instead.
Gameplay To Be Continued On Next Post....
