There are just too many personal reasons why I dislike cheering. To tell you the truth, I hate UYOs more than anything else. 1. During the prefect camp, the prefects ruthlessly and inhumanly and demonly pumped us for no absolute reason. I do not know why the rest of the people find it OK but I think that what they did was the worst thing I have experienced so far iin my life and I think it is inhuman and this treatment can be punishable. I honestly wanted to be a prefect but after the camp well............. my opinion completely changed. Thats the reason why I keep asking you to go to prefect camp. 2. For the UYO part, u know everytime when some guy fumbles accidentally and screws everything up they knock us down. I think this is not right and should be stop as I have never done anything wrong and therefore why should I be punished? The officers also somehow love to shout when they scold. Can't they talk to us nicely? We are all human beings and have rights too u know. That is why I switched CCA. I think if we all talk nicely and treat other nicely, things can be achieved better and faster. 3. I somehow find cheering a nuisance to my ears. In My opinion, if I am playing a sport competition and some people make unnecassary noise(cheer) I would be distracted and lose my game. Please note that this is my opinion only so please respect it. To me,silience sometimes helps people concentrate and win the game. That is why I am so against UYOs and cheering 1. I honestly wanted to be a prefect but after the camp well............. my opinion completely changed. Thats the reason why I keep asking you to go to prefect camp. The Final goal of the prefectorial camp is not to make the sh*t come out of people. It is to separate the strong from the weak. Understand that the nominees have to be put under immense pressure to choose the right people to do the job.
You think that its so easy to juggle day-long duties with work (and not to mention play)? Do you think that its easy to go up to a big, burly Year 6 guy and say that you want to book him for having no badge? Do you think its easy to announce bell every morning, and risk people spitting at you as you chase them out of their classrooms? Do think that its so easy to lead the school on the Tamil pledge on Monday morning, and to see your fellow prefect, of which you have bonded so much with, being scolded by an art teacher over a complete misunderstanding that was the bloody fault of some miscreant?
The senior prefects put the nominees under pressure and pain, so that they won't collapse in the later part of the year.
*Cookie monster, at this point, please don't consider my response to Tintin invalid, as I am simply explaining something that no one here understands*
Honestly, just between all of us, its pains me. It pains US. You WOUND us when you insult the prefects, when you make fun of what we say, when we are just trying to TEACH you people a lesson (which we hope we don't have to repeat) by booking you. You think of US as bullies. Well, we think of YOU as bullies.
Please do not accuse me of talking based only on the prefectorial side. To anyone who wants to call us assholes, we are better and stronger than you will EVER be, yes.. if you can't realize what is right in front of you, you will never be as good of a student, as the person you accuse to be an asshole.2. Of course, its not your fault when some sonofabitch makes a mistake. Everyone has their own strengths and weaknesses. That sonofabitch might be slower in drills, but stronger in Math than you are. So firstly, please respect that person.
And, its not our f*cking fault when YOUR UYO has many mean seniors. Do not immediately assume that UYOs are crap. Some people here, like myself and mourningfrost, actually like our UYO. Like you state in your following number 3 message, other people have opinions too.
Agrees with Cookie Monster regarding the drill matter as well.3. That is why I am so against UYOs and cheering Yeah. In a GOLF tournament.
This isn't really the right place to state your argument. Go speak with the REAL sportsmen. This matches really closely to UYOs. Why? Because people shout at you to GET THE MESSAGE INTO YOUR HEAD!. WIN THIS MATCH OR YOU ARE BIG PATHETIC LOSERS!.

Geez you all are too tense ~_~
@ cookie it aint a tradition to pump. my bro has NEVER pumped anyone before despite his rank of staff
@ Tintin You should rephrase what you mean if not you're gna get screwed and flamed in all entrances ~_~
Well, for the cheering part. It gives them energy~ You , my friend, are a quiet and prefer concentration, but sportsmen mostly (focus MOSTLY) prefer motivation. Would you rather have a tense atmosphere making 1 wrong move can get a boo from the crowd? OR a cheer which comforts you and says nothing's wrong from failing, regardless of win or loss, theyre supporting you? Trust me. when you have / had a girlfriend, (condition : you really care for her) then you''ll understand the importance of not being alone. And how to think more laterally.
As for UYO's being strict etc. Well, everyone has to get it right eventually. The point of pumping is for unity, discipline and readiness. you think BB is hard, try having Daniel as your NCO ~_~
Well. i dont hate my uyo. i love it. Why? Because, its useful. If it were so bloody useless and noone took it, you know how many hundreds would have died cos of lack of a first aider? you know how many millions would have died because of a wild fire which started from a spark? And you, BB. You know how many billions would die without your financial aid provided? It's not meaningless. It's just you, not the UYO. Please respect the UYO's and dont badmouth em. Without them, Singapore would probably be way weaker. UYO's are heart and soul of discipline
As for the prefect camp, i dont know about that, but if you cant stand pumping, then try imagining the billions having a tougher life but still persevere for the greater good. Being a prefect is an honor. And obviously some take that for granted.
@ Webby
Chill man. Noone's gna kill you= .=

minesweepermaster:
We are not scolding him. We are just giving him advice.
mourningfrost:
Agreed.
Tintin:
You unloyal piece of crap. If you do not want to serve the school, it's okay. But yet, you insult the people who swore to serve the school, do things that YOU wouldn't even do. Would you dare to stand in front of the whole school and say the pledge, being jeered by the whole school if you make the slightest mistakes? Can you stand people calling YOU all sorts of undesirable names (that have no place in a forum like this) when YOU are just doing your Call Of Duty?

LOL. Lemme see... Eh? TinTin still hasn't replied! Okay! Its my turn! Firstly- "1. Thats the reason why I keep asking you to go to prefect camp.-TinTin
Okay. Obviously you haven't experienced anything worse than this but, lets face it, this is ok compared to some other form of punishment(Such as pumping on the road at noon!) What were the aims of the prefect camp? YOU HAVE FORGOTTEN ONE POINT- PURPOSE OF PUMPING. Although i am still quite anti-prefect, i FEEL that the pumping given was to promote one main important thing- The ACSian spirit of that encouragement! When doing for example, 30 push-ups, is it easier to do it alone or in a whole group, OR in a whole group with people cheering each other on, giving them motivation and a burning spirit to show those pumpers that they can finish their task! "Ruthlessly"? "inhumanly" and "demonly"? If the purpose was to kill you guys they wouldn't be allowed to carry out the camp in the first place! 2. "For the UYO part, u know everytime when some guy fumbles accidentally and screws everything up they knock us down. I think this is not right and should be stop as I have never done anything wrong and therefore why should I be punished? The officers also somehow love to shout when they scold. Can't they talk to us nicely? We are all human beings and have rights too u know. That is why I switched CCA. I think if we all talk nicely and treat other nicely, things can be achieved better and faster."-TinTin
I am in a more strict UYO and YOU dare complain! I agree with Westlw's points there- TRADITION. And i would like to elaborate on the talking nicely part. If they could talk nicely and get you guys to do things properly, it would need you guys to be d**n DISCIPLINED! Shouting does one thing you guys just do not realise- It gives you guys the sense of urgency and discipline to follow orders and do that part nice and good! I mean like, could you guys REALLY get stamping together if your seniors just talk out- "Sediah" - You'll just get bird sh*t all the time! Why? Because there is no urge to do things quick and efficiently!
3. "I somehow find cheering a nuisance to my ears. In My opinion, if I am playing a sport competition and some people make unnecassary noise(cheer) I would be distracted and lose my game. Please note that this is my opinion only so please respect it. To me,silience sometimes helps people concentrate and win the game. That is why I am so against UYOs and cheering" -TinTin
I respect your opinion. But about the Golf tourney thingy, THEY DO CHEER AFTER THE GUY SHOOTS!

@ Chestee Booyeah~ Spot on Its way better as a team. And besides, if someone screws up. What better way to wake em up than a group pushup? well, if some rly dunno, just teach em. its unity baby!~ UYO - Hahahaha Sth sth sth RUSOK SENJATA! lol - - thats all i remember. ahh well. If people talked nicely, there wouldn't be wars. If soldiers talked nicely, they would be ponies wearing twigs. If a commander talked nicely, he would be a very old pony-horse who neighs in a high pitched voice. Urgency and shouting is part of UYO's. If we are all too nice, would you be taken adv of? Duh. happened to me a couple of times and i gotta say it sucks to be on the losing end Golf tourny? The guy whose car window got smashed wasnt really cheering too hard

Very funny, mourningfrost. Your posts usually add humour to something which we deem FAR too serious. Nice job, guys. This is the BEST DEBATE which we have ever had so far! Well done!

My little brother is sweet...he just has to work on his hyperactivity sometimes. Anyone else has any views on cheering to point out? Or shall we just wait for Tintin again? webmaster
